The demand for organic food is rampant and is showing no signs of slowing down. This should come as no surprise, given that people are continually demonstrating more interest in nutritional quality and food safety. After all, nobody wants pesticide residue, toxic fungicides, or genetically modified organisms in their body.

But when it comes to organic beauty, many of us are still on the fence. Why?

Is it because we don’t believe the products are as effective as their non-organic counterparts, or are we unable to justify the steep costs associated with clean beauty?

If you share the same hesitations, the following blog addresses 3 reasons why you should consider changing up your beauty products:

1.    Avoid Toxic Chemicals

Most beauty and skincare products in department stores are formulated with super hard-to-pronounce synthetics that are ridiculously dangerous for humans. These include hormone disruptors like parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde, and other carcinogens.

But pick up any organic beauty product. Not only will you see zero mentions of any toxic chemicals, but you will also find that they are only made with natural, plant-based ingredients that have not been exposed to herbicides, pesticides, or preservatives.

While we understand that your favorite drugstore foundation might match your complexion precisely, is it worth it if the synthetic substances in it are soaking into your skin and slowly causing allergic reactions or clogged pores?

2.    More Value for Money

Admittedly, eco-friendly and non-toxic beauty products often come with a higher price tag, but how do you evaluate if it’s worth your hard-earned money, especially when there are cheaper drugstore alternatives?

Well, let’s compare the two options:

1)    An inexpensive commercial beauty brand will most likely use synthetics that are hazardous for the skin. They will also incorporate inactive and cheap ingredients like petroleum and thickeners that offer no legitimate benefits aside from helping manufacturers top up the tubes/bottles and save on costs.

2)    Authentic organic brands, though expensive, work more effectively than their chemically enhanced counterparts. They use higher concentrations of superior ingredients like potent and hydrating oils; therefore, you no longer need to use the product several times before seeing results. You will notice the positive effects visibly after just a few uses.

3.    Protect the Planet

Cosmetic packaging, mainly consisting of plastic, take hundreds and hundreds of years to decompose.

Moreover, the myriad of toxic chemicals used by the enormous beauty conglomerates get drained into oceans and pollute them in the process. On a larger scale, such negligent activities cause damage to many ecosystems and cause death to marine species.

However, natural cosmetics and organic skincare brands are changing the game by ensuring the entire lifecycle of their products is biodegradable and eco-friendly.

So do yourself, your skin, and our planet a favor and adopt a greener beauty routine today!
