Skin that's too tight and itchy, scratchy knuckles, and chapped lips – rings a bell?

Winter landscapes are a treat to the eyes. Winter delights the senses with everything from snow-covered pastures to hoarfrost-coated trees to frozen riverbeds. But along with the sweeping seasonal wonders, winter also beckons the less pleasant sight of skin.

As the evenings grow longer and temperature drops, it's likely that more than just your surroundings, it's your skin too that's going through a transformation.

2021 winter is approaching; soon, you will feel the impact. With it arrives:  growing wreaking havoc from head to toe.

But, let's not panic yet. With some tiny tweaks and expert advice, you should be able to keep that beautiful skin of yours intact till the end of winter.

Here are seven essential tips for your winter skincare:

1. Think of your cleanser

Is your cleanser too drying for the winter season? Usually, summer cleansers are gel-based, with a refreshing feeling. But the same might become dreadful with the change in season.

This winter, switching to a foam cleanser or cleansing milk can help your skin keep hydrated and provide a gentler cleanse.

Check out Andalou Naturals CannaCell® Cleansing Foam. Aloe vera juice, antioxidant hemp stem cells, nutrient-rich organic hemp seed oil, vitamin C, tangerine, petitgrain, and Roman chamomile oils work together to cleanse, moisturize, and calm the skin, leaving it soft and glowing.

2. Continue using SPF

Winter is no reason to ignore SPF. Continue applying wide coverage sunscreen. It is essential to protect your skin from daily sun damages leading to aging and skin burnt. Did you know that snow reflects and intensifies sunlight? This winter, protect your skin from UV radiation exposure.

3. Regular dose of Vitamin C

Maintain your winter glow with Vitamin C-loaded serum. Vitamin C boosts collagen production that is vital for slowing down aging. Its antioxidant capabilities also aid in the reduction of blemishes.

Try Serum C from Maria Akerberg.

Serum C is an excellent after-sun product since it is anti-inflammatory and slows down the skin's aging process. Serum C has a brightening impact on hyperpigmentation when taken daily for a long time.

4. Use a gentle scrub

No matter how many serums and lotions are applied, dry skin will remain dry without some gentle exfoliation. According to the experts, switch to a soft cleanser instead of your typical cleanser and use it two to three times a week. Scrubbing regularly will ensure that the layer of dry skin is removed so that the moisturizer can permeate through the skin well for extra nourishment. But go easy on them!

5. Follow overnight skincare regime

Overnight treatments are a fantastic technique to hydrate and prevent dry skin. One of the buzzwords in the market for excellent moisturizing is emollient. Emollients are excellent moisturizers with essential oils and fatty substances called lipids. It helps in softening the skin by treating dry and flaky skin.

During winter, due to a lack of moisture in the air, the top layer of skin dries out. This results in cracking of skin – open spaces between skin cells. Occlusive agents – the oil present in emollients – envelopes the skin with a thin layer of oily film that locks the water in the skin.

However, due to its thick consistency, apply this protective layer before bedtime. This will give your skin ample time to absorb the essentials. It is also advisable to use this for cracked heels.

Extra tip: Use a plastic bag or gloves to generate extra heat for higher permeability.

6. Use a humidifier

During winter, humidifiers can be an excellent solution. The cold, dry air of winter sucks the moisture of your skin. Humidifiers can help in balancing this. On the other hand, humidifiers restore vital moisture to the skin and the air, preventing these negative consequences while preserving that healthy, bright appearance.

7. Explore home remedies

Use coconut oil – packed with emollients. Regular application of emollients such as coconut oil help in smoothening the skin by filling up spaces between skin cells.

If your skin is irritated, take oatmeal baths. Use a blender or chop your oatmeals into a fine powder. Once the powder is ready, mix it in warm water to prepare your bath. The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties would soothe irritation.
